Commack School District Professional Council

The Professional Council is a contractually established ongoing CTA/Commack School District committee. It is made up of 4 Commack Teachers Association members, the CTA President’s designee and a likewise number and composition of school district administrators. Members serve on the Committee for a two year period.

The topics of concern for this committee over its 25+ year existence have included: The yearly selection of the Commack Teacher of the Year, professional period activities, teacher mentoring programs, teacher evaluation procedures and many other topics. The goal in any of the committee discussions has always been to reach consensus on a topic so as to ultimately improve the quality of the educational system in Commack. Topics to be discussed may be presented by the CTA or by the school district. They may be new program proposals that need to be examined from several points of view. In the past, agreements that were reached on a topic by the Professional Council have become the basis for new contract language.

CTA members are encouraged to contact the council members with any topics they feel would improve the educational programs of the District.
